Porta Aberta à Inovação Social e Urbana is a social innovation project that promotes the rehabilitation of housing, free of charge, for the poor.
Operating directly within the social and built environment of the municipality of Viseu, Porta Aberta à Inovação Social e Urbana prevents makeshift housing, ensuring the right to decent housing as an alternative to institutionalisation, in particular of the elderly and disabled people. The project also includes the creation of a ‘PORTA ABERTA’ (Open Door) area in Viseu’s historical city centre, with personalised customer service and a hotline.
The funding from Portugal Inovação Social allocated to Porta Aberta à Inovação Social e Urbana will be used to implement the project in the central region of Portugal, namely in Viseu.
