C.A.S.O. – Centro de Apoio à Saúde Oral provides oral health services and psychosocial support for beneficiaries in vulnerable socio-economic situations to help contribute to their social reintegration. It is operated by a multidisciplinary team made up of social science and oral health professionals, in partnership with several municipal welfare offices, with the purpose of providing beneficiaries in situations of poverty/social exclusion access to oral healthcare. During the treatment, each person receives information and learns about oral health, and is encouraged to establish/maintain oral hygiene habits. Thus, the primary outcome of this intervention is the oral rehabilitation of the beneficiaries, with positive effects on their self-esteem.
