This project aims at contributing to improving the digital skills of adolescents and teachers in schools in the north of Portugal by promoting an innovative programme that introduces coding and computer science.
The MAKE CODE initiative offers students and teachers a course to introduce them to coding and computer science, through creation and design using micro:bit (microcontroller) and Minecraft: Education Edition, both part of the coding environment based on Microsoft’s MakeCode block language. By making physical or virtual objects, students will be creating an environment to learn coding concepts. Both tools offer an immersive experience that translates code into a visual representation. On the other hand, it also aims at nurturing the innovative, inventive and enterprising side of adolescents.
